Get ready for Week 5 of the College Football season, which is in the middle of a 61-day run where football is played every day of the week in the NFL and college. We start with Memphis/Charlotte at 11am, due to weather conditions.
Saturday, Oct. 3
Memphis at Charlotte, 11amET, ESPN+. Current Odds:
Current line: Memphis -20 | Total 53.5
Last game: Memphis last played Sept. 19 and beat UT Martin 45-21. Stokes completed 26 of 32 for 258 yards and 4 touchdowns. Charlotte lost 34-7 to Louisiana last week.
QB matchup: Memphis QB Marcus Stokes has been highly efficient. Through four games he has recent passing lines of 223 yards, 2 TD/0 INT vs UNLV; 188 yards, 2 TD/2 INT vs Arkansas State; 384 yards, 1 TD/1 INT at Boise State; and 258 yards, 4 TD/0 INT vs UT Martin.
Charlotte’s quarterback QB Cole Gonzales is completing 64.6% of his passes for 729 yards with three TDs and six INTs. He has two of their five rushing TDs.
Memphis offense vs. Charlotte defense: Memphis entered the season’s first month ranked 16th nationally in total offense at 508 yards per game, third nationally in first downs, and 15th in passing efficiency. Stokes can attack vertically, but Memphis also has enough balance to avoid becoming one-dimensional. Charlotte’s challenge is preventing chunk plays and forcing Memphis into long drives rather than letting Stokes hit explosives.
Charlotte offense vs. Memphis defense: Charlotte needs to slow the game down, protect the football and avoid obvious passing situations. If Charlotte falls behind early and is forced to throw repeatedly, Memphis’ pass rush becomes a major problem. The 49ers’ best chance is to establish the run, shorten the game and keep Stokes on the sideline.
Middle Tennessee at Kansas, 12pmET, ESPNU. Current Odds: KU -18.5/50.5
Last games: MTSU lost at Jacksonville State 23-13. Kansas last played Arizona State in London and lost 24-17.
Weather: About 72°F, light-to-moderate wind
Key Trends: MTU is: 1)8-2 ATS last 10 games overall. 2)3-0 ATS last this season. KU is: 5-1 Under their last 6 games. Has won just one game this season and it came against an FCS team (LIU).
QB Matchup: MTU’s Roman Gagliano has thrown 8 TDs and only 1 INT in his first four 2026 games, including 216 yards and 2 TDs last week. Kansas’ Isaiah Marshall has 649 passing yards; his recent three-game line includes five TD passes but three interceptions.
MSU Offense vs. Kansas Defense: Middle Tennessee averages only 349.2 yards, but it has run the ball efficiently at 5.0 yards per carry. Kansas’ defense has been much better than its record, allowing 281 yards and only 4.4 yards per play. Kansas’ biggest advantage is against the pass, where it permits just 166 yards per game.
Kansas Offense vs. MTSU Defense: Kansas has the better talent level, but Marshall has been turnover-prone against better competition. The Jayhawks need to establish Dylan Edwards and the run game instead of asking Marshall to throw 30-plus times again.
Alabama at Mississippi State, 12pmET, ABC Current Odds: Alabama -6/60.5
Weather: Temps in the 80s.
Last games: Alabama hammered South Carolina 49-18. Mississippi State stayed unbeaten by beating Missouri 31-24.
Key Trends: ‘Bama is: 1)6-0 ATS last 6 in series. 2)5-1 Under last 6 in series. 3)4-0 Over last overall. 4)8-4 ATS last 12 vs. SEC. MST is: 1)4-0 ATS last overall. 2)7-3 Over last 10 overall.
QB Matchup: Alabama sophomore Keelon Russell has thrown for 1,129 yards through four games. In his last two, he went for 320 yards/3 TDs against Florida State and 365 yards/4 TDs against South Carolina. Mississippi State’s Kamario Taylor has 1,192 passing yards and is averaging nearly 10 yards per attempt.
Alabama Offense vs. Mississippi State Defense: Alabama averages 471.5 yards and 48.0 points, including 283 passing and 188 rushing. Mississippi State is allowing 353.8 yards, and the major concern is its pass defense, which gives up about 249 yards per game.
Mississippi State Offense vs. Alabama Defense: The Bulldogs aren’t simply surviving with defense; they’re averaging 533.3 yards and 43 points, including 315.5 passing and 217.8 rushing. Taylor’s mobility and deep passing force Alabama to defend the entire field.
Syracuse at UConn, 12pmET, CBS Sports Network, Current Odds: ‘Cuse -6.5/50.5
Weather: About 68°F, light wind, dry
Last games: Syracuse’s most recent game came before its bye. They fell at Pitt 27-13; UConn lost at Miami (Ohio) 24-21.
2025: Syracuse (-7.5) beat UConn 27-20ot.
Key Trends: Cuse is: 1)Won six straight SU in this series. 2)1-4 ATS last 5 overall. 3)3-1 Under last 4 overall. UConn is: 1)4-2 Over last 6 overall. 2)2-5 ATS last 7. 3)5-2 ATS last 7 at home.
QB Matchup
Syracuse — Steve Angeli / Amari Odom
Angeli remains the starter, but coach Fran Brown has indicated that Odom is expected to play as well, making Syracuse one of the more interesting QB situations Saturday.
Steve Angeli: 57-of-104 (54.8%), 731 yards, 4 TD, 5 INT, 116.9 rating. He’s averaging roughly 244 passing yards per game, but the five interceptions are the concern.
Angeli’s ceiling has already been demonstrated against this opponent. In Syracuse’s 27-20 overtime win over UConn in 2025, he completed 33 of 53 for 417 yards and two touchdowns with one interception and led two fourth-quarter scoring drives.
UConn — Kalieb Osborne
Osborne is the more dangerous dual-threat quarterback in this matchup. Through four games he’s 62-of-101 (61.4%) for 850 yards, 7 TD and 2 INT, good for a 151.0 passer rating. He’s also UConn’s leading rusher with 220 yards and has scored five rushing touchdowns. U
Syracuse Offense vs. UConn Defense
Syracuse averages 432.7 total yards per game, with roughly 268.7 passing and 164 rushing, and scores 32.3 points per game. UConn, meanwhile, allows approximately 375 total yards per game, but there is an enormous split in how opponents are getting those yards: just 95 rushing yards per game, compared with 279.8 passing.
UConn’s offense is averaging 422.8 yards and 34.8 points per game, including 241 passing and 181.8 rushing. That’s a respectable and relatively balanced offensive profile.
The Orange allow only 258.7 total yards and 17 points per game. They surrender just 134.7 passing yards per game, which Syracuse says ranks sixth nationally, along with 124 rushing yards per game.
Michigan at Minnesota, 12pmET, FOX: Current Odds: Michigan -5.5/43.5
Weather: About 61°F, winds around 10 mph. Slight wind consideration
Last games: Michigan lost a one-point defensive battle to Iowa 20-19. Minnesota beat Washington 27-24.
Key Trends: Mich is: 1)Has won 5 straight SU games in this series and is 3-1 last 4 ATS. 2)3-7 ATS last 10 games. 3)9-4 ATS last 13 on the road. Minn is: 1)6-1 ATS last 7 overall. 2)4-2-1 ATS last 7 as a home dog.
QB Matchup: Michigan’s Bryce Underwood is coming off his best passing game, throwing for 276 yards and 2 TDs against Iowa; his season passing profile is about 201 yards per game. Minnesota’s Drake Lindsey operates a more conservative offense built around ball control and field position.
Michigan Offense vs. Minnesota Defense: Michigan averages only 349.8 yards per game, including 200.8 passing and 149.0 rushing. Minnesota’s defense is much stronger than its offense, allowing just 272.2 yards per game, including only 97.8 rushing. That means Michigan probably can’t simply pound the ball; Underwood will have to make throws against a defense allowing only 4.8 yards per play.
Minnesota Offense vs. Michigan Defense: Michigan’s defensive front is the matchup advantage. Minnesota needs Lindsey to handle pressure and stay ahead of the chains because Michigan has been top-25 caliber against both the run and pass. The game likely turns on whether Minnesota can create manageable third downs rather than asking Lindsey to repeatedly convert third-and-long.
Boston College at SMU, 12pmET, CW. Current Odds: SMU -21/55.5
Last games: Boston College fell to Virginia Tech 21-14. SMU beat Missouri State 34-24.
2025: SMU (-10.5) beat BC 45-13.
Key Trends: BC is: 1)5-0 Under last 5 overall. 2) SMU is: 1)6-3 ATS last 9 overall. 2)3-0 Over last 3.
QB Matchup: SMU’s Kevin Jennings is one of the country’s most productive passers: 97-of-126, 1,453 yards and 12 TDs, although he has thrown 5 interceptions. Boston College’s quarterback will be asked to keep pace with an offense averaging almost 400 passing yards per game. Mason McKenzie is completing 56.5% of his passes for 759 yards with three TDs and five INTs. He also leads the team with 363 rushing yards and three TDs.
BC Offense vs. SMU Defense: SMU’s defense gives up around 309 yards and 25 points per game, so Boston College should be able to move the football.
SMU Offense vs. BC Defense: SMU averages 550.8 total yards and 392.5 passing yards, one of the most explosive profiles in the country. BC has to prevent chunk passes and tackle immediately after the catch because Jennings consistently pushes the ball vertically.
Navy at Air Force, 12pmET, CBS. Current Odds: AF -3.5/46.5,
Weather: Around 75°F, light winds near 3 mph in the latest forecast
Last games: Navy lost at UAB 24-20. Air Force survived Nevada 36-33 in double overtime.
2025: Navy beat Air Force 34-31. Navy QB Blake Horvath threw for 339 yards and ran for 130 in that game.
Key Trends: Navy is: 1)0-3 ATS last 3 overall. 2)4-2 Under last 6 overall. AF is: 1)2-4 ATS last 6 overall. 2)3-1 Over last 4 overall.
QB Matchup: Navy’s situation bears watching. Braxton Woodson suffered an ankle sprain against FAU and played only briefly last week. For the season he has 296 rushing yards and 4 rushing TDs, making his legs particularly important in Navy’s option attack. If Woodson can’t handle a full workload, Jackson Gutierrez would likely start again. Gutierrez has 204 passing yards and 2 TDs in the early season, including 104 yards last week against UAB.
Air Force QB Liam Szarka is the focal point of the Falcons’ option. He leads Air Force with 310 rushing yards, has scored 5 rushing TDs, and has thrown for 214 yards. He’s not a volume passer, but his ability to read the option and create with his legs is central to everything Air Force does
Navy Offense vs. Air Force Defense: This is strength against strength. Navy averages 423.0 yards per game, but an extraordinary 332.3 come on the ground, third nationally in the current matchup data. The Midshipmen average 6.0 yards per rush. Air Force, however, allows only 297.3 total yards, including 129 rushing yards per game.
Navy throws for only 90.7 yards per game, so explosive play-action passes could be much more important than passing volume.
Air Force Offense vs. Navy Defense: Here’s the fascinating matchup: Air Force averages 333.7 rushing yards per game, but Navy is allowing an incredible 65.7 rushing yards per game through three games. Navy has been much more vulnerable through the air, surrendering 255.7 passing yards per game, but Air Force throws for only 96.7 per game.
Stanford at Wake Forest, 12pmET, ACC Network. Current Odds: WF -13.5/53.5
Weather: Low-to-mid 70s, around 9 mph wind with possible light rain
Last games: Stanford upset Georgia Tech 34-27. Wake Forest produced one of Week 4’s bigger surprises, winning at Louisville 30-27.
Key Trends: Stan is: 1)5-2 ATS last 7 overall. 2)4-1 Over last 5 overall. 3)3-10 ATS last 13 as a road dog. WF is: 1)6-2 Over last 8 overall. 2)7-3 ATS last 10 vs. ACC.
QB Matchup: Stanford’s Davis Warren exploded for 396 yards and 3 TDs against Georgia Tech after being held to 151 by Duke. Wake Forest QB Gio Lopez has been dealing with a hip injury, but should be ready to go after a big game against Louisville with 225 yards passing and one TD.
Stanford Offense vs. Wake Defense: Stanford averages only 98.8 rushing yards, but 272.8 passing. Wake is allowing 257.2 passing yards, so the clearest Stanford path is through Warren and the receivers rather than trying to establish a power run game.
Wake Offense vs. Stanford Defense: Wake should try to run first and use play-action, particularly because Stanford has been far less consistent defensively than offensively. Lopez’s health determines how aggressive Wake can be vertically.
UCF at Houston, 12pm, ESPN2. Current Odds: Houston -12.5/51.5.
Weather: 80 degrees but with rain possible.
Last games: UCF beat TCU 21-13. Houston won at Georgia Southern 42-28.
2025: Houston (+1.5) over Houston 30-27.
Key Trends: UCF is: 1)3-6 ATS last 9 overall. Hou is: 1)3-1 ATS last 4 in series. 2)5-0 Over last 5 overall. 3)7-3 ATS last 10 vs. Big 12.
QB Matchup: UCF is expected to use Keyone Jenkins with Alonza Barnett III injured. Jenkins was 19-of-20 for 160 yards and a TD against TCU. Houston’s Conner Weigman is having an excellent season: 73-of-102, 947 yards, 11 TDs and 1 INT, completing 71.6%
UCF Offense vs. Houston Defense: UCF averages 197.5 rushing yards and 5.9 per carry, but that’s exactly where Houston is strongest. The Cougars surrender only 63.5 rushing yards per game and 2.4 per carry. If Houston wins first down, UCF will have to throw considerably more than it prefers.
Houston Offense vs. UCF Defense: Weigman is the major difference. Houston can attack vertically and also has enough rushing balance to prevent UCF from selling out against the pass. He accounted for six TDs last week against Georgia Southern.
Notre Dame at North Carolina, 12pmET, ESPN. Current Odds: ND -21/47.5.
Weather: High 70s, Light wind. Rain possible but light rain.
Last games: Notre Dame dismantled Purdue 49-10. North Carolina’s last game was a 28-20 loss at Clemson on Sept. 19; UNC led 17-6 at halftime before Clemson controlled the second half.
Key Trends: ND is: 1)4-0 ATS last 4 in series. 2)6-2 ATS last 8 overall. 3)17-6 ATS last 23 games as a road fave. UNC is: 1)1-4-1 ATS last 6 as a home dog. 2)1-6 ATS last 7 overall. 3)9-14 ATS last 23 ACC games.
QB Matchup: Notre Dame’s CJ Carr has directed one of the nation’s most efficient passing attacks. Notre Dame is averaging 275 passing yards per game, completing 69.6%, with a team QB rating near 180. North Carolina starts veteran Billy Edwards Jr., whose task is much harder against Notre Dame’s elite defense.
Notre Dame Offense vs. UNC Defense: Notre Dame averages 416.8 yards and 6.6 yards per play. UNC’s defense is respectable, allowing about 312 yards, but Notre Dame’s biggest advantage is explosiveness: 9.8 yards per pass attempt against a Tar Heel defense allowing only 6.0.
UNC Offense vs. Notre Dame Defense: This is the larger mismatch. Notre Dame is allowing only 199.3 total yards and 8.3 points per game, including just 53.8 rushing yards.
West Virginia at Iowa State, 12pmET, TNT. Current Odds: Iowa State -3/52.5.
Weather: About 64°F, 7 mph winds
Last games: West Virginia lost at home to Oklahoma State 41-24. Iowa State lost to Utah 31-17.
Key Trends: WVa is: 1)4-0 Over last 4 overall. 2)7-3-1 ATS last 11 as a road dog. IST is: 1)5-1 ATS last 6 in this series. 2)6-2 Under last 8 overall. 3)6-1 Under last 7 in this series.
QB Matchup: West Virginia’s Michael Hawkins Jr. has 609 passing yards, 425 rushing yards and 14 total TDs. Iowa State starts Jaylen Raynor, who is more of a conventional distributor.
WVU Offense vs. Iowa State Defense: WVU’s offense is built around the run, averaging 294.8 rushing yards per game, fourth nationally in the matchup database. Iowa State allows only 113.8 rushing yards, so this is strength vs. strength. If Iowa State wins against the run, Hawkins will be forced into more drop-back passing than Rich Rodriguez wants.
Iowa State Offense vs. WVU Defense: West Virginia’s defense has been vulnerable enough that Raynor should get opportunities downfield. The Cyclones need more offensive creativity after scoring just 17 against Utah; play-action is especially important because WVU will be geared to stop the run.
Michigan State at Wisconsin, 12pmET, FOX. Current Odds: Wisc -10.5/43.5
Last games: Michigan State was beaten by Nebraska 31-13. Wisconsin pulled the road upset at Penn State 24-20.
Key Trends: MSU is: 1)3-0 Under last 3 games overall. 2)5-1 ATS last 6 overall. 3)3-0 Under last 3 overall and 6-2 last 8. Wisc is: 1)8-2 Under last 10. 2)4-8 ATS last 12 as a home fave.
QB Matchup: Michigan State’s Alessio Milivojevic is 65-of-97 for 748 yards, 3 TDs and 3 INTs. Wisconsin’s passing attack has been more conservative and the Badgers prefer to play through defense and field position.
MSU Offense vs. Wisconsin Defense: Michigan State averages just 323.2 yards and 22 points. Wisconsin allows only 275.2 yards, including 111.5 rushing and 163.8 passing. The Spartans’ biggest concern is pass protection—they’ve allowed heavy pressure all season—against a Wisconsin front that can win without blitzing.
Wisconsin Offense vs. MSU Defense: Wisconsin doesn’t need a shootout. Its best plan is to run, avoid turnovers and keep Michigan State’s offense pinned in poor field position.
Vanderbilt at Georgia, 12:45pmET, SEC Network. Current Odds: Georgia -24.5/51.5
Weather: Around 81-83°F, humid with showers possible; wind light.
Last games: Vanderbilt suffered its first loss, 21-15 at Auburn. Georgia dominated Oklahoma 41-13.
Key Trends: Vandy is: 1)7-3 ATS last 10 overall. Geo is: 1)4-0 ATS last overall. 2)5-0 Over last 5 overall. 3)6-0 ATS last 6 in series.
QB Matchup: Vanderbilt’s freshman Jared Curtis has recently posted 199 yards vs Auburn, 277 vs NC State and 210 vs Delaware. Georgia’s Gunner Stockton has been spectacular: 52-of-70, 754 yards, 10 TDs and only 1 INT, with a 209.1 efficiency rating.
Vanderbilt Offense vs. Georgia Defense: Vanderbilt will need Curtis to avoid obvious passing downs. Georgia’s front can take away inside runs and create pressure with four, which lets the Bulldogs keep extra defenders in coverage.
Georgia Offense vs. Vanderbilt Defense: Georgia leads the nation at 54.8 points and 480.8 yards per game, with tremendous balance: 258.5 passing and 222.3 rushing. Stockton’s efficiency makes it difficult to overload the box.
Western Michigan at Buffalo, 1pmET, ESPN+. Current Odds: Western Mich -13.5/46.5
Last games: Western Michigan lost 32-7 to Boise State. Buffalo survived Robert Morris 31-28.
Key Trends: WMich is: 1)4-2 Under last 6 games in series. 2)7-2 ATS last 9 overall. 3)4-2 Over last 6 overall. Buff is: 1)0-4 ATS this season. 2)3-0 Over last 3 overall. 3)1-4 ATS last 5 at home.
QB Matchup: Western Michigan’s Broc Lowry had 301 yards and 3 TDs on 29-of-41 passing through his first two games and remains the primary quarterback. Buffalo has turned to Jason Wright after Elijah Holmes’ injury; Wright is 38-of-80 for 385 yards, 3 TDs and 3 INTs.
WMU Offense vs. Buffalo Defense: Western Michigan averages only 297.8 yards, but Buffalo’s defense allows 426.2, including 170.8 rushing and 255.5 passing. This is one of the more favorable offensive matchups for WMU despite its modest raw numbers
Buffalo Offense vs. WMU Defense: Buffalo’s quarterback instability is the issue. Wright’s 47.5% completion rate makes long drives difficult, so the Bulls likely need turnovers and explosive runs.
Toledo at Ball State, 2pmET, ESPN+. Current Odds: Toledo -19.5/51.5
Weather: About 70°F, modest wind and a small chance of light rain
Last games: Toledo blew out San Diego State 41-16. Ball State lost at Kent State 26-13.
2025: Toledo -28.5 over Ball State 38-9
Key Trends: Toledo beat Ball State 38-9. Tol is: 1)4-0 Over this season. 2)4-1 Under last 4 in series. BST is: 1)4-2 ATS last 6 in series. 2)1-6 ATS last 7 overall. 3)5-1 Over last 6 overall.
QB Matchup: Toledo’s John Alan Richter has been excellent: 1,161 passing yards entering the week and, over the last three games, lines of 284/3 TD, 429/4 TD and 252/3 TD with no interceptions in those three.
Ball State’s offense has produced only 158.3 passing yards per game as a team, so the quarterback gap is substantial.
Toledo Offense vs. Ball State Defense: Toledo averages 468 yards and 7.1 yards per play. Ball State gives up 453.8 yards and 6.8 per play, including 254.5 passing. This is one of the clearest offensive mismatches on Saturday.
Eastern Michigan at UMass, 3:30pmET, ESPN+ Current Odds: UMass -6/48.5
Weather: Around 70°F, light winds.
Last games: Eastern Michigan beat FCS Lindenwood 29-3. UMass beat Sacramento State 35-6.
Key Trends: EMU is: 1)1-3 ATS last 4 overall. 2)4-1 Under last 5 overall. 3)1-3 ATS last 4 on the road. UMass is: 1)3-0 Under last 3 overall. 2)3-1 ATS last 4 overall. 3)1-3 ATS last 4 at home.
QB Matchup: UMass QB William Watson III is completing 74% of his passes for 610 yards with six TDs and a pick. He also has 154 rushing yards with 4 TDs. Michigan State transfer Noah Kim is putting up pretty good numbers for Eastern Michigan with 968 yards passing, six TDs and three picks. However, he has been sacked seven times and has -20 yards rushing.
Virginia at Florida State, 3:30pmET, ESPN 2. Current Odds: UVa -2.5/51.5.
Last games: Virginia crushed Delaware 42-3. Florida State beat FCS Central Arkansas 34-7.
2025: Virginia upset No. 8 Florida State 46-38 in double overtime.
Key Trends: UVa is: 1)4-1 ATS last 5 overall. 2)3-0-1 ATS last 4 in series. 3)4-2 Under last 6 in series. 4)3-1 Under last 4 overall. 5)1-4 ATS last 5 on the road. FSU is: 1)1-5 ATS last 6 overall. 2)3-1 Under last 4 overall. 3)0-3 ATS last 3 at home. 4)1-3 ATS last 4 as a dog.
QB Matchup: Virginia’s Beau Pribula has been outstanding: 66-of-86 (76.7%), 793 yards, 11 TDs and 1 INT, plus mobility. FSU’s Ashton Daniels is a boom-or-bust passer who generates explosives but has a lower completion rate. He has 928 passing yards with six TDs but also has five picks. He’s also completing just 59.8% of his passes.
Virginia Offense vs. FSU Defense: Pribula’s dual-threat ability is the problem. He can punish man coverage by scrambling and has been extremely accurate when defenses sit back.
FSU Offense vs. Virginia Defense: Daniels needs explosive plays because FSU has struggled to sustain drives consistently. Virginia’s goal should be to eliminate deep shots and make Daniels complete short throws repeatedly.
Ohio State at Iowa, 3:30pmET, CBS. Current Odds: OSU -13.5/45.5
Last games: Ohio State beat Illinois 42-19. Iowa edged Michigan 20-19.
Key Trends: OSU is: 1)3-1 ATS last 4 overall. 2)3-1 Over last 4. Iowa is: 1)5-1 ATS last 6 overall. 2)3-1 Over last 4 overall. 3)5-3 ATS last 8 at home. 4)8-2 ATS last 10 vs. B10.
QB Matchup: Ohio State’s Julian Sayin is 83-of-115 for 1,206 yards, 10 TDs and 1 INT. He threw for 367 yards and four TDs against Illinois. Iowa QB Hank Brown operates a much lower-volume attack but delivered the game-winning TD against Michigan.
Ohio State Offense vs. Iowa Defense: This is elite vs. elite. Ohio State averages 522 yards, including 365 passing, while Iowa leads the country in scoring defense at 8.0 points allowed and gives up just 239.8 yards, including 152 passing. The deciding matchup is Sayin/Jeremiah Smith against Iowa’s secondary. Smith just posted 12 catches, 217 yards and four TDs against Illinois.
Iowa Offense vs. Ohio State Defense: Iowa must run efficiently and keep Ohio State off the field. If the Hawkeyes are forced into 35+ passes, the Buckeyes should win and cover.
Ohio at Kent State, 3:30pmET, ESPN+. Current Odds: Ohio -3/50.5.
Weather: About 69°F
Last games: Ohio beat FCS Stonehill 35-7. Kent State beat Ball State 26-13.
Key Trends: Ohio is: 1)4-0 ATS last 4 in series. 2)3-1 Under last 4 in series. 3)3-1 Over last 4 overall. Kent State is: 1)4-1 Over last 5 overall. 2)5-1 ATS last 6 at home.
QB Matchup: Due to injuries, Ohio lists Matt Vezza as its current starter. Vezza has 400 passing yards, 4 TD and 3 INT this season. Last week against Stonehill, he completed 14-of-20 for 207 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT. Ohio has also used Landon Davis, so there is some flexibility in the quarterback room.
Kent State QB Dru DeShields has 540 passing yards and 3 TD, while also leading Kent State with 183 rushing yards and 3 rushing TDs. That rushing dimension makes DeShields the more dangerous improvisational quarterback in this matchup.
Ohio Offense vs. Kent State Defense: This is where Ohio has a significant statistical advantage. The Bobcats average 368.8 yards and 30.3 points per game, with 189.5 rushing yards per game at 4.8 yards per carry. Kent State allows 388.8 yards and 36 points per game
Interestingly, Kent State’s run defense has been considerably better than its pass defense. The Golden Flashes allow only 131.8 rushing yards and 4.1 yards per carry, but surrender 257 passing yards per game, a 67.8% completion rate and a huge 8.9 yards per pass attempt.
Kent State Offense vs. Ohio Defense: Kent State is averaging only 16.3 points, 147.3 passing yards and 132.8 rushing yards per game. Ohio’s defense hasn’t been dominant—it allows 31 points, 219.5 passing yards and 168.5 rushing yards per game—so this is an opportunity for Kent State to produce more offense than it has against stronger opponents.
Old Dominion at Georgia State, 3:30pmET, ESPN+ Current Odds: GState -1.5/52.5.
Weather: Around 83°F, light wind, small rain chance
Last games: ODU was beaten by James Madison 46-20. Georgia State beat Northern Illinois 35-14.
2025: ODU (-29.5) beats Georgia State 27-10.
Key Trends: ODU is: 1)0-4 ATS this season. 2)8-2 Under last 10 overall. GST is: 1)4-0 ATS this season, 5-0 ATS last 5 overall and 2-0 SU at home. 2)4-0 Under in this series. 3)3-1 ATS in this series. 4)5-2 Under last 7 overall.
QB Matchup: ODU QB Quinn Henicle is completing 56.6% of his passes for 424 yards with three TDs and two INTs. But it was Ryan Huff who played last week against JMU, tossing for 261 yards with one TD and one INT. Went 20 of 39 but was -45 in rushing yards. But Henicle is expected to return this week from injury. Cameran Brown leads the Panthers with 873 yards passing with 6 TDs and 4 INTs.
Louisville at NC State, 3:30pmET, ACC Network. Current Odds: Louisville -5.5/58.5
Weather: Around 83°F, light winds
Last games: Louisville was upset at home by Wake Forest 30-27. NC State beat Appalachian State 41-31.
Key Trends: Lou is: 1)3-1 Over last 4 overall. 2)3-1 ATS last 4 overall. NC State is: 1)3-1 Under last 4 in series. 2)3-0 Over last 3 overall. 3)1-3 ATS last 4 this season.

Louisville Offense vs. NC State Defense: Louisville averages 486.3 yards, including 295.8 passing and 190.5 rushing. That’s enough balance to make NC State defend every blade of grass.
NC State Offense vs. Louisville Defense: NC State averages 451.8 yards, including 219 rushing. If Louisville’s depleted secondary forces the Cardinals to keep safeties deep, NC State should have room to run.
Florida at Missouri, 3:30pmET, ABC. Current Odds: Florida -5.5/56.5.
Weather: About 75°F, light wind
Last games: Florida produced a huge response by routing Ole Miss 52-28. Missouri lost at Mississippi State 31-24.
Key Trends: Fla is: 1)5-2 Under last 7 in this series. 2)4-1 ATS last 5 overall. 3)4-1 Over last 5 overall. Mizzou is: 1)1-4 ATS last 5 overall. 2)5-2 Under last 7 overall.
QB Matchup: Florida’s Aaron Philo has been extremely efficient; in his last three games he’s thrown 196/1 TD, 204/1 TD and 242/2 TD, completing roughly 70% or better in each. Missouri’s Austin Simmons had 652 yards and 8 TDs through his first three games.
Florida Offense vs. Missouri Defense: Florida averages 532.8 yards and 53.5 points, including an enormous 260 rushing yards per game. Jadan Baugh’s production forces Missouri to load the box, which creates favorable play-action opportunities for Philo.
Missouri Offense vs. Florida Defense: Simmons has enough arm talent to stress Florida, especially with Cayden Lee already at 412 receiving yards. Missouri’s biggest challenge is staying balanced if Florida jumps ahead early
California at UNLV, 3:30pmET, CBS Sports Network. Current Odds: UNLV -2.5/53.5.
Last games: Cal lost at home to Clemson 24-10. UNLV rolled Akron 38-10.
Key Trends: Cal is: 1)1-4 ATS last 5 overall. 2)3-0 Under last 3 overall. UNLV is: 1)2-4 ATS last 6 overall. 2)6-0 Under last 6 overall.
QB Matchup: California’s Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele threw for 119 yards with 2 INTs against Clemson last week. UNLV’s team passing game averages about 225 yards per game, but the Rebels also average nearly 180 rushing yards, giving them better offensive balance. QB Jackson Arnold is completing 61.3% of his passes for 891 yards with five TDs and no INT with 160 rushing yards and three TDs.
Cal Offense vs. UNLV Defense: Cal is much more pass-heavy: 277.5 passing vs. 101.5 rushing. UNLV allows 213.5 through the air, so Sagapolutele should have opportunities if Cal can protect him.
UNLV Offense vs. Cal Defense: UNLV’s advantage is balance. Cal’s defense cannot simply drop seven every snap because the Rebels are producing 4.6 yards per rush.
Bowling Green at Miami (Ohio), 3:30pm, ESPN+. Current Odds: MIA -13.5/42.5
Weather: Around 71°F, light wind
Last games: Bowling Green’s offense struggled in a 14-6 loss to USF. Miami (OH) beat UConn 24-21.
Key Trends: BG is: 1)1-3 ATS last overall. 2)2-8 ATS last 10 overall. 2)7-3 Over last 10 overall. MIA is: 1)5-1 ATS last 6 in this series. 2)4-1 Under last 5 in series. 3)3-0 ATS last 3 overall. 4)3-1 Under last 4 overall.

Key Trends: Aub is: 1)3-7 ATS last 10 overall. 2)1-4 ATS last 5 overall. 3)1-7 ATS last 8 vs. SEC. Tenn is: 1)2-4 ATS last 6. 2)4-1 Under last 5 overall. 3)3-7 ATS last 10 at home.
QB Matchup: Auburn’s Byrum Brown has recently gone 18-of-27 for 140 yards/1 TD/1 INT, 20-of-35 for 271/3/1, and 17-of-28 for 223/2/0. Tennessee’s Faizon Brandon had 374 yards and 5 TDs with no interceptions through his first two appearances.
Auburn Offense vs. Tennessee Defense: Auburn averages 412.8 yards, but Tennessee allows only 282.5. The key is pass protection: Tennessee averages about 4.5 sacks per game, while Auburn has been giving up too much pressure.
Tennessee Offense vs. Auburn Defense: Brandon’s arm gives Tennessee more vertical upside, but Auburn’s defense can make the game physical. Tennessee’s run game needs to keep Auburn’s edge rushers from teeing off.
Akron at Central Michigan, 3:30pmET, ESPN+. Current Odds: CMich -6.5/46.5.
Weather: Mid 60s. Wind around 8mph.
Last games: Akron was routed by UNLV 38-10. Central Michigan was overwhelmed at Miami 52-3.

CMU has two QB as well but just 235 yards passing combined between Angel Flores and Jadyn Glasser. Flores is the top rusher on the Chips with 320 yads and three TDs.
Wyoming at North Dakota State, 3:30pmET, CW. Current Odds: ND State -19/45.5
No weather: Fargodome
Last games: Wyoming beat Hawaii at home 27-10 getting 1.5; NDSU beat Sacramento State on the road 31-10, but didn’t cover the 27.5.
Key Trends: Wyo is: 1)1-7 ATS last 8 overall. 2)3-0 Under last 3 and 1-9 Under last 10 overall. NDSU is: 1)3-1 Under overall. 2)4-0 SU and 2-2 ATS. Was an FCS team last season.
QB Matchup
Wyoming — Tyler Hughes: 61-of-98 (62.2%), 656 yards, 2 TD, 5 INT through four games. The completion rate is respectable, but the touchdown-to-interception ratio illustrates Wyoming’s biggest offensive problem. The Cowboys have only two passing touchdowns as a team and are scoring 17.8 points per game.
North Dakota State — Nathan Hayes: 61-of-91 (67.0%), 808 yards, 7 TD, 2 INT, with a 162.6 efficiency rating. Hayes has been considerably more efficient than Hughes and averages 8.9 yards per attempt.
Wyoming Offense vs. North Dakota State Defense
This is the biggest concern for Wyoming.
The Cowboys average only about 329 total yards and 17.8 points per game, with approximately 163 rushing and 166 passing yards. NDSU, meanwhile, allows only 254.8 total yards and 12.3 points per game.
The Bison have been particularly difficult to run against, allowing only 100.3 rushing yards per game and 3.0 yards per carry. Opponents have managed only 154.5 passing yards per game and have thrown 3 TD against 7 NDSU interceptions.
Wyoming’s best offensive weapon may be RB Samuel Harris, who has 228 rushing yards on 42 carries — 5.4 per attempt — with two touchdowns. The Cowboys need Harris and the running game to prevent NDSU from turning this into a game in which Hughes has to throw 30-plus times.
Marshall at James Madison, 3:45pmET, ESPNU. Current Odds: JMU -18.5/55.5
Weather: Low 70s, light wind with possible showers.
Last games: Marshall barely escaped Gardner-Webb 36-35. JMU handled Old Dominion 46-20.
2025: James Madison beat Marshall 35-23 in Huntington. JMU led by 16 in the second half before Marshall made a run.
Key Trends: Marsh is: 1)3-1 ATS last 4 in series. 2)1-5 ATS last 6 overall. 3)5-2 Under last 7 overall. JMU is: 1)5-0 ATS last 5 overall. 2)5-2 ATS last 7 as a home fave.
QB Matchup: Marshall’s Carlos Del Rio-Wilson is coming off 386 yards and 3 TDs, after throwing 176 and a TD the prior game. He’s completing 68.8% of his passes for 756 yards with five TDS and one pick. He also has 194 yards rushing and two scores. JMU’s passing offense has been more complementary to its run game. Camden Coleman leads the Dukes with 716 passing yards, seven TDs and one pick.
Marshall Offense vs. JMU Defense: Marshall averages 372.5 yards, but JMU allows only 293.2, including an outstanding 88.8 rushing yards and 2.4 yards per carry. Marshall’s path is through Del Rio-Wilson rather than trying to hammer the ball inside.
JMU Offense vs. Marshall Defense: JMU’s advantage is being able to stay balanced and play from favorable down-and-distance situations against a defense that ranks 131st in the nation in total yards allowed per game at 450.8.
UTEP at New Mexico, 4pmET, MW+. Current Odds: NM -22.5/48.5.
Weather: Around 67 degrees. Light wind.
Last games: UTEP lost to Oregon State 33-7. New Mexico beat New Mexico State 42-18.
Key Trends: UTEP is: 1)4-2 ATS last 6 in series. 2)3-0 Under last in series. 3)1-8 ATS last 9 overall. 4)8-2 Over last 10 overall. NM is: 1)4-0 ATS last 4 overall. 2)6-2 Under last 8 overall.
QB Matchup: UTEP’s EJ Colson Jr. threw for 119 yards with a TD/INT against Oregon State after posting 86 yards and two TDs against Michigan. He has 496 yards passing with 7 TDs and 2 INTs for the season. New Mexico’s quarterback situation is a bit muddle as Luke Mogan (235 yards) was benched for Toa Fa’avae, who has 390 yards passing, 131 yards rushing with two TDs passing and one rushing.
UTEP Offense vs. New Mexico Defense: UTEP averages just 265.2 yards, while New Mexico allows only 252.0, including 83.8 rushing yards. UTEP is going to have difficulty staying on schedule. New Mexico’s offense (100th) is pedestrian at best, but they should be able to run on the 93rd-ranked UTEP defense.
Maryland at Nebraska, 4pmET, FS1. Current Odds: Neb -14.5/52.5.
Weather: 65 degrees, 9mph winds with gusts around 17-19mph.

2025: Nebraska (-6.5) over Maryland 34-31.
Key Trends: Md is: 1)5-1 Over last 6 overall. 2)2-7 ATS last 9 overall. 3)Has lost 9 straight B10 games SU. Neb is: 1)3-1 Under last 4 in this series. 2)3-1 ATS last 4 overall. 3)6-2 Over last 8 overall.
QB Matchup: Maryland’s Malik Washington had 359 yards and 3 TDs against Virginia Tech before collapsing to 142 yards and 4 INTs against UCLA. Nebraska’s quarterback Anthony Colandrea has produced 10 touchdowns passing and two on the ground.
Maryland Offense vs. Nebraska Defense: Maryland averages 431.2 yards and 283 passing, but Nebraska allows only 233.5 total yards, fourth-best in the matchup database. Nebraska gives up just 143 passing and 90.5 rushing. That’s an enormous step up in defensive difficulty for Washington. However, their top RB Jamahl Rule, who has 333 yards and five TDs rushing, could miss this game due to injury.
Kentucky at South Carolina, 4:15pmET, SEC Network. Current Odds: SC -2.5/53.5.
Weather: 85 degrees and a slight chance of showers.
Last games: Kentucky handled South Alabama 45-21. South Carolina lost 49-18 at Alabama.

Key Trends: Ky is: 1)3-1 ATS last 4 overall. 2)3-0 Over last 3 overall. SC is: 1)4-0 ATS last 4 in series. 2)4-1 Under last 5. 3)0-3 ATS last 3 overall. 4)3-1 Over last 4 overall.
QB Matchup
Kentucky — Kenny Minchey: 69-of-101 (68.3%), 876 yards, 8 TD, 1 INT, averaging 8.7 yards per attempt with a 165.3 passer rating.
South Carolina — LaNorris Sellers: 72-of-*116 (62.1%), 833 yards, 6 TD, 4 INT, averaging 7.2 yards per attempt.
Sellers remains dangerous because of his athleticism and ability to extend plays, but the four interceptions are an important contrast with Minchey’s one. South Carolina has also been able to take pressure off Sellers with a rushing attack averaging 262 yards per game.
QB matchup to watch: Minchey has been the more efficient passer so far, while Sellers presents the greater improvisational and designed-run threat.
Kentucky Offense vs. South Carolina Defense
Kentucky is averaging:
34.5 points

KEY MATCHUP: Kentucky’s 203.5-yard rushing offense vs. South Carolina’s 95-yard rushing defense.

Purdue Offense vs. Illinois Defense: Purdue averages 319.5 passing yards but only 101.5 rushing, so the offense is extremely QB-dependent. Illinois gives up 255 passing, so there is room for Browne to rebound.
Oregon State at Colorado State, 6pmET. Current Odds: OSU -6/62.5
Last games: Oregon State beat UTEP 33-7. Colorado State gave up 59 in a 59-45 loss at UTSA.
Key Trends: OSU is: 1)4-0 ATS last 4 overall. 2)3-1 Over last 4 overall. CST is: 1)2-0 ATS in series. 2)6-0 Over last 6 overall. 2)3-1 ATS last 4 overall.
QB Matchup: Oregon State’s Braden Atkinson is one of the nation’s passing leaders: 106-of-163, 1,421 yards, 11 TDs and 2 INTs. He threw for 301/3 last week and 333/5 the week before. Hauss Hejny (619yds, 10 TDs, 1 INT) was injured last week. Kasan Farar (471 yds, 2 TD, 2 INT) is the starter if Hejny can’t go due to a hamstring injury.
Oregon State Offense vs. Colorado State Defense: This may be the cleanest passing mismatch outside Miami-Clemson. Oregon State averages 365 passing yards; Colorado State allows 454 total yards and 7.4 yards per play, including 230 rushing yards. CSU’s defense has essentially struggled against everything.
BYU at TCU, 7pmET, ESPN. Current Odds: BYU -6.5/48.5
Weather: 82 degrees.
Last games: BYU’s most recent result was a 41-23 win at Colorado State before its bye.
Key Trends: TCU lost at UCF 21-13. 2025: BYU -3.5 over TU 44-31. BYU is: 1)3-0 Over last 3 in series. 2)4-0 ATS last 4 overall. 3)7-0 ATS last 7 at home.
QB Matchup
BYU — Bear Bachmeier: 44-of-62 (71.0%), 642 yards, 6 TD, 1 INT, with an excellent 186.7 efficiency rating. He’s averaging 10.4 yards per attempt.
TCU — Jaden Craig: The Harvard transfer has much bigger volume numbers: 90-of-132 (68.2%), 1,213 yards, 7 TD and 3 INT, with a 158.3 efficiency rating. Craig is averaging 303.3 passing yards per game and 9.2 yards per attempt.

482 total yards per game
263 rushing yards
219 passing yards
44.0 points
TCU’s defense allows only about:
265 total yards per game
12.5 points per game.
The most important number is BYU’s 263 rushing yards per game.
The Cougars run on roughly 61.5% of their offensive plays, and that isn’t simply because they’ve been protecting leads.
Arkansas at Texas A&M, 7pmET ESPN2. Current Odds: Texas A&M -14/50.5.
Weather: High 70s, light wind.
Last games: Arkansas handled Tulsa 34-6. Texas A&M was dominated at LSU 35-6.
2025: A&M -7.5 beat Arkansas 45-42.
Key Trends: Ark is: 1)1-4 ATS last 5 overall. 2)4-1 Under last 5 overall. 3)1-7 ATS last 8 in series. Texas A&M is: 1)5-2 Under last 7 overall. 2)2-6 ATS last 8 overall.
QB Matchup: Arkansas QB KJ Jackson has 927 passing yards, 5 TD and 3 INT, while Texas A&M’s Marcel Reed has 738 yards, 6 TD and 4 INT. Arkansas has been much more productive through the air, averaging roughly 252 passing yards per game.
Offense vs. Defense: Arkansas’ biggest issue has been running the football—only 89.5 rushing yards per game—while A&M allows 125.5. WR Chris Marshall is Arkansas’ biggest offensive weapon with 28 catches for 473 yards, leading the SEC in receiving yards entering the week. A&M has the more productive ground game at 151.5 yards per game, which could be important against an Arkansas defense allowing 124.8 rushing yards
Georgia Southern at Coastal Carolina, 7pmET, ESPN+ Current Odds: Geo Southern -2.5/54.5
Last games: Georgia Southern lost 42-28 to Houston. Coastal Carolina lost 34-17 to Liberty.
2025: Georgia Southern beat Coastal Carolina 45-40 in a shootout. O.J. Arnold rushed for 262 yards for the Eagles.
Key Trends: Geo South is: 1)4-0 ATS last 4 in series. 2)4-2 Under last 6 in series. 3)5-1 ATS last 6 overall. 4)5-2 Under last 7 overall. CC is: 1)3-5 ATS last 8 overall. 2)7-3 Over last 10.
QB/Offense vs. Defense: Georgia Southern QB Max Johnson is coming off a strong performance at Houston, completing 26-of-38 for 284 yards and 3 TDs with no INTs. The Eagles throw for 267.8 yards per game, which matches up well against a Coastal defense allowing opponents to complete 65.9% of their passes. Georgia Southern’s weakness is its running game—only 108.2 yards per game and 3.8 per carry.
Coastal’s offensive strength is its ground game, averaging 187.8 rushing yards per game, so the Chanticleers should try to control possession rather than get into a passing contest. QB Duece Bailey is completing just 54.1% of his passes for 1,039 yards with 10 TDs and two picks. He also has 113 yards rushing.
UL Monroe at South Alabama, 7pmET, ESPN+. Current Odds: USA -14/56.5.
Weather: Possible rain expected with temps in the high 70s.
Last games: ULM lost 45-17 to FAU. South Alabama lost at Kentucky 45-21. 2
2025: USA (-4.5) over ULM 26-14.
Key Trends: ULM is: 1)0-4 ATS last 4 in series. 2)3-7 ATS last 10 overall.3)4-1 Over last 5 overall. USA is: 1)4-1 Over last 5 in this series. 2)5-1 Over last 6 overall.
QB/Offense vs. Defense: ULM’s Aidan Armenta is coming off his best performance, completing 23-of-29 for 278 yards and 2 TDs with no interceptions against FAU. ULM still lost 45-17, illustrating its larger problem: the Warhawks have struggled to get stops. He’s thrown for 493 yards with three TDs and no INTs
South Alabama should have opportunities to establish the run and then attack off play-action. They’ve used two quarterbacks with about equal starts thus far. Jared Hollins played well against Kentucky, going 23 of 43 for 266 yards with 2 TDs and 2 INTs.
UTSA at Rice, 7pmET, ESPN+. Current Odds: UTSA -11.5/54.5.
Weather: There is potential for rain with temps in the low 80s.
Last games: UTSA’s offense exploded in a 59-45 win over Colorado State. Rice lost 38-24 at Fresno State.
2025: UTSA -9.5 over Rice 61-13.
Key Trends: UTSA is: 1)6-1 ATS last 7 in series. 2)3-1 ATS last 4 overall. Rice is: 1)6-3 ATS last 9 in series. 2)2-5 ATS last 7 overall.
QB Matchup: UTSA’s Owen McCown is coming off 303 yards and 3 TDs, after earlier games of 214/1 and 70/0. Rice’ averages just 84.8 passing yards per game to rank 136th in a run-heavy offense.
UTSA Offense vs. Rice Defense: UTSA averages only 355.7 total yards, but its 5.5 yards per rush is dangerous against a Rice defense allowing 181.5 rushing yards per game. Rice must stop early-down runs or McCown gets favorable play-action looks.
Washington at USC, 7:30pmET. Current Odds: USC -9.5/58.5.
Weather: Will start out in the low 80s.
Last games: Washington lost a close game to Minnesota 27-24. USC suffered its first loss, 41-27 to Oregon.
Key Trends: Wash is: 1)5-1 ATS last 6 in this series. 2)0-4 ATS last 4 overall. 3)4-2 Under last 6 overall. USC is: 1)1-8 ATS last 9 overall. 2)5-1 Over last 6 overall.
QB Matchup: Washington’s Demond Williams Jr. threw for 239 yards and 2 TD/2 INTs last week after a 373-yard, 4-TD game. USC’s Jayden Maiava leads the nation with 1,499 passing yards and 14 TDs, completing 70.1%.
Washington Offense vs. USC Defense: Washington averages 288.5 passing yards, while USC gives up 236.2 and allows 8.4 yards per pass attempt. That suggests Washington should attack USC vertically instead of relying on a ground game averaging only 107.2 yards.
USC Offense vs. Washington Defense: Maiava is the biggest problem. Washington must create pressure without blitzing excessively because USC can punish one-on-one coverage.
Utah State at Boise State, 7:30pmET. Current Odds: -19.5/51.5
Weather: Around 71 degrees.
Last games: Utah State beat Troy 21-10. Boise State beat Western Michigan 32-7.
2025: Boise State -1.5 over Utah State 25-24.

Offense vs. Defense: Boise has a major advantage on the ground, averaging 237 rushing yards per game, led by Dylan Riley (592 yards, 6.6 per carry). Utah State allows 139.8 rushing yards per game. The Aggies’ offense has struggled badly, averaging just 13.0 points and 319.8 yards, with 11 turnovers in four games.
Texas Tech at Colorado, 7:30pmET, FOX. Current Odds: TT -13.5/50.5.
Weather: 64 degrees, light and possible showers.
Last games: Texas Tech crushed Sam Houston 49-14. Colorado lost at Baylor 23-13.
Key Trends: TT is: 1)0-3-1 ATS in this series. 2)1-4 ATS last 5 overall. 3)3-0 Over last 3 overall. 4)0-3 ATS last 3 overall. CU is: 1)0-3 ATS last 3 overall. 2)2-6 ATS last 8 overall.
QB Matchup: Texas Tech’s Will Hammond has struggled with turnovers recently: 224 yards, 1 TD/3 INTs against Sam Houston and 257, 1/1 against Houston. Colorado’s QB situation has also been volatile. Isaac Wilson could take over for starter Julian Lewis, who was benched at the half last week in their loss at Baylor.
Texas Tech Offense vs. Colorado Defense: Tech has the more complete offense but cannot give Colorado short fields. If Hammond protects the ball, Tech should be able to sustain drives against a Colorado defense that has struggled with physical offenses.
Temple at South Florida, 7:30pmET, ESPNU. SF -6/49.5.
Weather: rain and temps in low 80s.
Last games: Temple lost 21-17 to Army. USF won a defensive game at Bowling Green 14-6.
Key Trends: Tem is: 1)5-2 Over last 7 in series. 2)3-1 ATS last 4 in series. USF is: 1)5-2 Under last 7 overall. 2)4-0 SU but 2-2 ATS this season.
QB/Offense vs. Defense: Temple QB Ajani Sheppard has thrown for 539 yards and 5 TD while adding 147 rushing yards and 2 TD. He had 242 yards and 2 TD against Army last week. Temple’s real strength is the ground game, averaging 220.3 rushing yards and 5.5 yards per carry. QB J. Smolik is questionable with a foot injury.
USF is 4-0 and its defense has been the difference, allowing only 14.0 points, 121.8 rushing yards and 200.3 passing yards per game. Offensively, the Bulls average 172.5 rushing yards, creating an important matchup against a Temple defense surrendering 157.8 rushing yards per game. QB Michael Van Buren Jr. leads with 691 passing yards, three TDs and no picks. HE also has two rushing scores.
Miami at Clemson, 7:30pmET, ABC. Current Odds: Miami -16.5/47.5.
Weather: Light rain projected, temp in the mid-70s.
Last games: Miami destroyed Central Michigan 52-3. Clemson went across the country and beat California 24-10.
Key Trends: Mia is: 1)8-2 ATS last 10 overall. Miami is: 1)1-4 ATS last 5 in series. 2)8-1 ATS last 9 overall. Clem is: 1)5-2 Over last 7 in series. 2)Has won 7 of their last 9 SU, but has gone 5-4 ATS in that span.
QB Matchup: Miami’s Darian Mensah is putting up extraordinary numbers: 94-of-106, 1,211 yards, 14 TDs, 0 INTs, an 88.7% completion rate and 228.2 passer rating. Clemson’s Cade Vizzina could play despite the elbow issue but is not 100% so freshman Tait Reynolds will get the call. He has shown potential with 521 yards passing, one TD and two picks, while rushing for 83 yards.
Miami Offense vs. Clemson Defense: Miami leads the country at 588.8 yards per game and 8.5 yards per play, including 361 passing and 227 rushing. Clemson allows 372.5 yards, including 157.8 rushing, so the Tigers cannot simply play two-high shells against Mensah.
Clemson Offense vs. Miami Defense: Clemson has the opposite problem. Miami is allowing just 224.5 total yards and 39.5 rushing yards per game. Clemson must throw efficiently on early downs because running into Miami’s front has been almost impossible
Army at Louisiana Tech, 7:30pmET, ESPN+. Current Odds: Army -2.5/46.5.
Weather: Rain and temps in the mid 70s.
Last games: Army beat Temple 21-17. Louisiana Tech was idle last weekend; its latest game was a 36-19 loss at Baylor on Sept. 19, with the Bulldogs gaining 362 yards but allowing 418.
Key Trends: Army is: 1)3-0 ATS in series. 2)5-1 ATS last 6 overall. 3)3-1 Over last 4overall. LT is: 1)3-0 Under in series. 2)5-1 ATS last 6 overall. 3)5-1 Over last 6 overall.
QB Matchup: Army’s Cale Hellums has thrown only sparingly—36 yards last week—but has 2 TD passes in the limited sample and is central to the option run game with 246 rushing yards and five TDs. Louisiana Tech’s starting QB Blake Baker is out with a fractured hand, which is the biggest offensive issue in this matchup. Trey Kukuk is completing 62.7% of his passes for 283 yards with three TDs and a pick and he also has 127 rushing yards.
Army Offense vs. Louisiana Tech Defense: Passing numbers don’t tell the story with Army. The key is whether Tech can handle option assignments for four quarters without giving up explosive QB or pitch runs.
Indiana at Rutgers, 8pmET, B10 Network. Current Odds: Indiana -24.5/56.5
Weather: 67 degrees.
Last games: Indiana survived Northwestern 29-23, failing to run away from a large underdog. Rutgers crushed FCS Howard 58-7.
Key Trends: Ind is: 1)0-5 ATS last 5 overall. 2)4-2 Over last 6 overall. Rut is: 1)3-0 ATS last 3 in series. 2)5-2 Over last 7 in series. 3)4-1 Over last 5 overall.
QB Matchup: Indiana’s Josh Hoover owns a 204.6 efficiency rating, second only to a handful of elite QBs nationally. Rutgers must find a way to force him into third-and-long situations rather than letting Indiana live off explosive play-action. Rutgers QB Dylan Lonergan has had issues with turnovers, but does have 708 yards passing with seven TDs and five INTs.
Offense vs. Defense: Indiana is also elite defensively, allowing only 233.8 yards and 9.8 points per game, including just 65.8 rushing yards. Rutgers’ best route is ball control and avoiding turnovers because trying to trade possessions with Indiana strongly favors the Hoosiers.
Arkansas State at Louisiana, 8pmET, Current Odds: Louisiana -6.5/47.5.
Weather: Possible light rain, low 80s.
Last games: Arkansas State edged Kennesaw State 17-14. Louisiana beat Charlotte 34-7.
2025: ULL +2.5 over Ark State 34-30.
Key Trends: ASU is: 1)1-3 ATS last 4 in series. 2)2-5 ATS last 7 overall. 3)5-2 Over last 7 overall. ULL is: 1)4-0 ATS last 4 overall. 2)4-1 Under last 5 overall. 3)3-1 ATS last 4 at home.
QB/Matchup: Arkansas State QB Trey Owens has thrown for 837 yards and 4 TDs. Louisiana QB Lunch Winfield has 660 passing yards but is particularly dangerous as a runner, leading the Cajuns with 295 rushing yards and 6 TDs. Louisiana averages 186.8 rushing yards per game, while Arkansas State allows 183.8, making the Cajuns’ ground attack the biggest matchup concern for the Red Wolves.
Fresno State at Washington State, 9:30pmET, USA. Current Odds: Wash State -2.5/45.5.
Weather: 65 degrees, light winds
Last games: Fresno State beat Rice 38-24. Washington State lost to Arizona 34-24.
Key Trends: Fresno is: 1)3-0 ATS last 3 overall and 5-1 ATS last 6 overall. 2)7-3 Under last 10 overall. WST is: 1)7-3 Over last 10 overall. 2)7-1 ATS last 8 overall.
Matchup: Fresno State enters 3-1 and averages 28.3 points per game, while Washington State is 1-3 and averaging 22.3. Fresno’s offense has been more balanced, and the Bulldogs exploded for 249 rushing yards at 7.3 yards per carry last week. That’s important because Washington State allows 173.3 rushing yards per game. QB Jayden Mandal is completing 64.4% with 789 yards, 6 TDs and one INT. He also has 92 rushing yards and a score for Fresno State. Caden Pinnick is the QB for the Cougars, who has 644 passing yards with 3 TDs and 4 INTs. He’s a dual-threat signal-caller with 206 rushing yards and 3 scores.
Defense: Neither defense has been dominant statistically. Fresno allows 403 yards per game, while Washington State gives up about 380 yards, including 173.3 on the ground. Fresno’s ability to create takeaways could be particularly important against the Cougars.
Baylor at Arizona State, 10:30pmET, ESPN. Current Odds: Arizona State -4/49.5.
Weather: Very hot, in the low 90s.
Last games: Baylor beat Colorado 23-13. Arizona State was idle last week; its most recent game was a 24-17 win over Kansas in London.
2025: ASU +2.5 over Baylor 27-24.
Key Trends: Bay is: 1)3-1 ATS last 4 overall. 2)5-1 Under last 6 overall. ASU is: 1)3-1 ATS last 4 overall. 2)3-1 Over last 4 overall.
QB/Matchup: Baylor QB Nate Bennett has 567 yards, 6 TD and 2 INT, while ASU QB Cutter Boley has 736 yards, 9 TD and 2 INT. Baylor’s defense is the strength of the team: the Bears have held all four opponents under 20 points and allow only 97 rushing yards per game. ASU averages 165.7 on the ground, so Boley may have to carry more of the offensive load.
Texas State at San Diego State, 10:30pmET. Early Odds: TST -4.5/59.5
Weather: Low 80s (typical San Diego weather)
Last games: Texas State crushed Incarnate Word 63-10. San Diego State was blown out at Toledo 41-16.
Key Trends: Tex State is: 1)4-2 ATS last 6 overall. 2)3-1 Over last 4 overall. SD ST is: 1)0-4 ATS last 4 this season. 2)4-2 ATS last 6 at home.
Offense vs. Defense: Texas State has the major statistical offensive advantage, averaging 523.3 total yards, 281.3 rushing yards and 36.3 points per game. San Diego State allows 412.8 yards, including 172.5 rushing yards per game. Texas State is also converting an impressive 61.1% of its third downs. SD State QB Jayden Denegal is completing just 56.1% of his passes for 597 yards with five TDs and five INTs.
The concern is Texas State’s defense, especially against the pass. The Bobcats allow 348.3 passing yards and 33.8 points per game. SDSU hasn’t been a strong passing team—only 164.8 passing yards per game—but this is a matchup where the Aztecs could outperform their season averages. Their QB Brad Jackson is strong, completing 68.4% of his passes for 854 yards, 10 TDs and 3 INTs.
Major personnel issue: San Diego State is dealing with an unusually depleted roster amid injuries and illness. As of Thursday, 17 players were listed doubtful or out, and all seven tight ends were reportedly carrying some form of injury/availability designation. The university has also confirmed a mumps outbreak involving 14 cases, reported as confined to the football team; the infected players were said to have been isolated and no longer contagious
Cincinnati at Arizona, 11pmET, FOX. Current Odds: Ariz -7/55.5
Weather: 75 degrees.
Last games: Cincinnati beat Kansas State 31-26. Arizona won at Washington State 34-24.
2025: Arizona +5.5 over Cincinnati 30-24.
Key Trends: Cincy is: 1)3-1 ATS last 4 overall. 2)3-0 Over last 3 overall. Ariz is: 1)0-5 ATS last 5 overall. 2)8-1 Under last 9 overall. 3)1-4 ATS last 5 at home.
QB Matchup: Arizona’s Noah Fifita has 1,131 passing yards this season. Cincinnati’s offense is much more run-oriented, averaging 270 rushing yards per game, so this is a contrast in styles. JC French IV is completing 74.5% of his passes for 796 yards with six TDs and no picks for the Bearcats.
Cincinnati Offense vs. Arizona Defense: Cincinnati wants to shorten the game and keep Fifita on the sideline with its power run game.
Arizona Offense vs. Cincinnati Defense: Arizona wants pace and explosives. If Cincinnati cannot pressure Fifita with four, Arizona has the advantage in the passing matchup.
San Jose State at Hawaii, 12amET MW+. Current Odds: Hawaii -3/51.5
Weather: 78 degrees, no wind.
Last games: San Jose State was idle last week; its most recent game was a 26-10 loss to Fresno State. Hawaii lost 27-10 at Wyoming.
2025: SJ State -2.5 over Hawaii 45-38.
Key Trends: SJST is: 1)5-2 ATS last 7 in series. 2)3-1 Under last 4 in series. 3)2-6 ATS last 8 overall. Haw is: 1)1-3 ATS last 4 overall. 2)3-0 Under last 3 and 6-2 Under last 8 overall. 3)4-1 ATS last 5 home games.
QB Matchup: Hawaii’s Micah Alejado has 1,020 passing yards but just three TDs and one pick.. San Jose State’s passing game has been far less consistent. SJST QB Luke Weaver is completing 60.8% of his passes for 1,032 yards with nine TDs and five picks. He also has 87 rushing yards and a score.
Offense vs. Defense: Hawaii’s best matchup is through quick, high-percentage passing. San Jose State needs to establish the run and keep Alejado off the field; otherwise, Hawaii’s volume passing game can eventually wear down the secondary.
