Top Sporting Events to bet on this Weekend (June 5-7)
The fireworks are about a month away, but we have some fireworks on the field, court, clay, and dirt this upcoming weekend. That’s before the World Cup begins next Thursday, along with UFC Freedom 250 from the White House. Let’s begin with the top five events to bet on this weekend, tipping off on Friday.
(odds from DraftKings)
1)NBA Finals Game 2 from San Antonio, Friday at 8:30pmET (ABC)
The Knicks took game 1, 105-95, with Jalen Brunson going for 30 points for New York and Victor Wembanyama going 6 for 21 with six turnovers for the Spurs. Is this too early for a must-win for San Antonio? The Spurs are -6.5-point favorites (-102). The total is 214.5, and the money line is Spurs -218/Knicks +180. Top Props: Wembanyama 28+ points (-107). Stephon Castle 17+ points (-109). Three-pointers: Julian Champagnie 3+ (-108)
2)Belmont Stakes from Saratoga, Saturday, 7pmET.
Five of the nine horses slated to run were also in the Kentucky Derby in this race. That includes the winner Golden Tempo (9-2) and runner-up Renegade (2-1). The distance is 1 ¼ miles, unlike Belmont Park, which is 1 ½ miles. They’ll be back at Belmont Park in 2027 as the construction is slated to be completed before then.
3)Stanley Cup Final, Saturday, June 6
Vegas won the opener on Tuesday, 5-4 on the road, after they were down 2-0 to start the game. On Thursday, the game went overtime, and the Hurricanes won 4-3, so send it back to Vegas at 1-1 for Game 3. Seth Jarvis got the game-winner on a power-play 3:56 into overtime. The game will be played at 8pmET on ABC. Logan Stankoven leads the Hurricanes with 10 goals in the postseason. Brett Howden has 12 goals and 11 assists for the Golden Knights. Future Odds: Vegas -145/Carolina +125.
4)UFC Fight Night from Las Vegas: Muhammad vs. Bonfim, Saturday, June 6, Main Card starts around 8pmET. (ESPN)
UFC Vegas 118 is the calm before the storm. That’s considered a filler card before the big fight in Washington D.C. at the White House on June 14. However, there is a very strong fight at the top of the card with welterweights Belal Muhammad (24-5, 1 NC) taking on Gabriel Bonfim (19-1) from the Apex in Vegas. Muhammad is -112 (ML), while Bonfim is -108. The total rounds are o3.5 (-188)/u3.5 (+145). You can also go with the KO/TKO/DQ, Submission, or a Decision.
5)Golf-The Memorial Tournament-Dublin, OH-Final on Sunday. (CBS)
The Memorial continues on Friday as J.J. Spaun, Wyndham Clark, Tommy Fleetwood, and Ryan Gerard have early first-round leads at 5-under. Fleetwood is not +640 to win the tournament, +114 to finish in the top five and -200 to finish in the top 10. Scottie Scheffler is going for his third straight Memorial Tournament win. He’s +790 to win the tournament and is off to a slow start, after posting a 73 (+1) in the first round to tie for 33rd. But he’s just six shots back of the leaders.
Honorable Mention:
The French Open has been wild, especially on the women’s side, with Russian teenager Mirra Andreeva reaching her first Grand Slam Final to face qualifier Maja Chwalinska from Poland. She becomes the second qualifier to ever reach a Grand Slam singles final in the Open era. She began the tournament at +20000 to win the French Open is now +335 to win the Final.
On the men’s side, the semifinals are Friday (early) and are all underdogs. Alexander Zverev is the current -200 favorite to win the Final. He has a 0-3 record in Grand Slam finals.
